Wow - just watched Dream Girls - what a great movie. Jennifer Hudson really deserved the Oscar for her performance (I wonder if Beyonce was mad over that??). Wow - it's gonna be a hot one in Detroit again today. I did my power walk at 6:30am to beat the heat. Might just jump in the pool now!! Okay -now we went and did something really crazy - we bought a trampoline. We are really gonna have quite a yard. Right now we have a pool, swingset, trampoline and our tent is up (the kids have been camping with Daddy!!). Hope we don't have to mow too soon?? Maybe we should just get the weed wacker out? Oh yeah, and the hammock is out there too!

Catch the Candy Band's show on Sunday morning at 10:30am sharp on the Sprint Stage. This will be the last show we play before a month long break. Then we are back in full force by the end of July. Yes, it's true. The Candy Band will play everywhere and anywhere. This Friday, we are playing at a local garage sale. This person bid on us at a silent auction that we donated a performance for. It was for the Royal Oak Education Fund (or something like that). We had a 5 family Fathers Day BBQ yesterday. 10 adults and 11 kids. At one point, 3 adults and all the kids were in our pool making a whirlpool. It was going so fast you couldn't get out of the pool and everytime a kid got hurt or wanted out, a parent from the "outside" had to rush over and grab them out. Crazy fun stuff. xoxo A.Joy

Tonight I am hosting a Mom's Only party. You really don't have to even be a Mom - just no guys or kids are allowed. That means there will be no beer cans, sticky fingers that touch every piece of food before they decided which one to devour, just a bunch of my cool girlfriends sharing a joke, some wine and some of their fave appetizers!! We are rat-sitting Picachoo (who belongs to our neighbor). We have had pet rats for a few years and it is fun to have one around again. No, this is not a picture of the rat we are watching - but I thought it was a cute picture. How'd they get him to stand there like that? And the little suit - adorable!!!

On another note- hope to see ya'll at the Liberty Fest in Canton this weekend. They have lots going on - including the Candy Band at 4:30 on Saturday!!

Today is the last day of school FINALLY! I can't wait to throw our raggedy lunch boxes out - I don't think they could have made it another week. No more "what should I wear" and "how many degrees is it gonna be outstide today". Plus the car pool thing "can I sit in the middle" (that is the most popular spot in the mini van). Now it's off to the beach and lots of chores (my house is gonna be trashed all summer - so there will be a chore assignment chart!!). Rock on and have a great day!! xoxo A.Joy

you guys are amazing! i love you! im 15 years old and punk/emo. my mom just had a baby and ever since then its been that stupid frickin kid music all the time, and i've been made to deal with it! im gonna show your music to her, and i know she'll love it! in the 80's she was totall punk/new wave and she doesnt really like the kid songs either. but its hard to find stuff thats ok for little ones. i wanna get your music! its sooo cool! i dont know how tho, cuz i live in vermont, so....ya. well thanks, i love you.

Today I am setting up for my annual garage sale (where do I get all this stuff). It promises to be "unusual as usual", much like a visit to the set of Sanford and Son. I will have a sneak preview this morning for my special invitees and on Saturday - we are officially open for business from 9-1 (I don't ever sit out there all day!!!) Hope to see you all!! Wow - my next vacation destination = Arkansas. There is a park there that is open to the public and has diamonds just laying on the ground + finders = keepers!!! A little girl found this yesterday and it is worth $15,000. I just say the movie "Blood Diamond" and I like the Arkansas story better!! Yesterday we played at the Kingsbury Country Fair. Awesome fair - bad weather. We still performed in a tent (next to the beer tent!!!!!). It was really a lovely fair - they had lots to do. It took alot of dirt roads to get their and we saw tons of horses - I never realized that Oxford, Michigan is "Horse Country". I asked the audience if everyone had a horse at home and I think they all did!!! Thanks Kingsbury Country Day School for having us - I hope we can come back next year!! xoxo A.Joy
