JAM NIGHT A SUCCESS!!! We had our 1st ever Candy Band sponsored Teen Jam night. There were 4 bands: The Vendettas, Bloodshot I, The Millionaires Club and Stolen Liberty. We had a good crowd and even three local newspapers showed up to take photos. I loved seeing these young bands be so passionate about their music. Rock on guys!! Okay, I've always wanted to be on a cook show. I am sure I would be awful at it and burn stuff, cut my finger, get hair in the food. But, here is what it would look like anyways:)

No, it's not New York
It's Aidan at Legoland California, where they have all kinds of amazing Lego creations, including these NY skyscrapers.
We just got back from a week in California, and I can't believe how much stuff we did. We spent 2 days at Legoland, 3 with my sister near LA, 3 in the mountains skiing, went to the beach twice and saw a cool exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art. I'm exhausted and I wish we could have brought the weather and the beach home with us!

FAT RAT. I took Cleo to the vet the other day to get her nails trimmed and they told me to put her on a diet. No more regular cheese - he told me to get the low-fat stuff or fat-free. The life expentency of a rat is 2-1/2 year and she is 2 years old. I say "Let them eat cheese!!".

I want to welcome another Candy Band fan into the world. Announcing my new nephew, Kyle Mack! Congrats to my brother Brady and his wife Amy.

CANDY BAND GETS NEW SINGER?

The other day my kindergarten daughter was drawing pictures and asking me to guess what they were. After guessing many birds, cats, dogs, etc. she drew a picture of someone with long hair. I guessed a girl, she wrote "no it is LDZL" She explained she was drawing Led Zeppelin!? What?

PAINT FLINGER. My daughter got a "spinning paint thingy" for Christmas (thanks Aunt Sally!). I hooked this thing up the other night - and boy, does that paint get around. If you aren't quick with it - globs will come out. And I especially love how the cover of the box shows little girls putting this "artwork" on their purses and stuff. It's pretty freaky!! There is no way I am putting a purse in this thing (not if I like the purse anyways).

OK, I'm feeling happier today! It's about 50 degrees and sunny (that's Michigan for ya). The last 2 shows we've played the crowd has been so exhuberant, it's been great fun for us. Yesterday we were on the front page of the local paper "The Royal Oak Review" with some of our most loyal fans. Thanks to all of you who make our job so much fun!

It's another GRAY day in Michigan... starting to get me down! I need some sunshine!!!! It's days like these that I wish my brother in Arizona could package up sunshine and send it up to me.

WOW!!! Today we played two very cool and very different shows. The first show was at the Rochester Hills Library and it was a pre-school crowd. Most of them have never seen the band before, and we showed them how to do Rock Paper Scissors. They seemed to like the band and even came up and tried to mess with our equipment at times. The second crowd was Northwood Elementary School and it was CRAZY!!! They screamed, they danced, they drank lots of sugar soda pop (I even autographed a greasy pizza napkin!!).
Not only did they know Rock Paper Scissors, they actually made up a dance to it!!!

I got yelled at by my daughter today because I am listening to too much Alice Cooper and she can't get it out of her head. Lately, The Ballad of Dwight Frye is my favorite song from "Love it to Death". Wanna see more pix of Alice? go to www.alicecooper.com

Nigel has arrived (and my cat hates me now)!!!
He is a really good puppy. He sleeps thru the night and he loves the kids....so far so good .
By the way, check out the local channel (11, I think), the Twins Hockey Game is on there.

NEW GUITAR ALERT!! I am so glad that one of my favorite long-time guitar students Trevor got a new electric guitar for Christmas. Today he came over for his lesson and I taught him some ACDC (the funnest band to play on a new electric guitar). Check them out at www.acdcrocks.com

So much music, so little time!
I downloaded a bunch more music onto my IPod today - Cream, Fishbone, AC/DC, the Dirtbombs, the Specials, Franz Ferdinand. I'm going on 900 songs and I feel like I'm just getting started.
I've got to go see if the Daily Show's coming on now. It's been off for a week now and I really miss it!

Check out the rockin radio station www.sparetherock.com (they're based near Boston, Mass). We made their best of 2005 list. They gave us an award for the "Best Kids' Rock Band That Actually Listens To Rock Music"! Yippee.
