Yesterday we played at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn. It was one of my favorite gigs ever! We played in the middle of the museum amongst some of the most important historical items you have ever seen: Rosa Parks bus, the chair Abe Lincoln was shot in, the Weinermobile just to name a few. The Rock Stars Cars and Guitars exhibit was amazing as well!!!
It was awesome to dedicate our version of "Working on the Railroad" to the 600 ton train that was in the room. And "Wheels on the Bus" was dedicated to Rosa Parks bus - that I could see from the stage!! In a couple of days, I will post pictures from this historical show!!! Stay tuned and have a great day! xoxo A.Joy

THE GIG IS ON - NEWSFLASH!!!
Just found out that the Madison Heights gig for 11:30am this morning is a go - it will take place in the lower level of City Hall at 13 Mile and John R. Be there!!!!! xoxo A.Joy
Yesterday, my kids and I were listening to the song "Isn't it Ironic" by Alanis Morissette (I love that song) and I was trying to explain what irony means. Well this morning, nature hit the nail on the head. We haven't had rain for so long and today is our first show in a month (and it is outside) and guess what - it was pouring rain! Hopefully it's done for now - because the show must go on!! We really needed the rain - but it can stop now!! xoxo A.Joy

Okay - this is really stupid - but I just finished folding some clean laundry and I have to hide my daughters favorite skirt because it's all she ever wears (along with her fruit pants). I am sure other moms go through this?? If you want to see the skirt - look 2 photos below at the one with Becca and Augy from The Hard Lessons. Also, don't you love the Tide logo?? xoxo A.Joy

Chipmunks are so cute - but what to do when they are living in your garage wall and gutters. They have this high pitched "bark" that is cute yet annoying. My neighbor wants to have sniper practice on them - but there's gotta be a better way. I don't have any band news at this time - we are still on break - but come July 27th - we are back in action at the Madison Heights Civic Center Park!!!

I went to the figure 8 race at the Oakland County 4-H fair last night. It was like watching car accidents for 3 hours. One car flipped and 2 guys came out and flipped it right side up and away the driver went. Another driver was strangled by his seatbelt when he was hit really hard and he passed out - they had to stop the race and bring him out on a spine board. My kids loved it - absolute blast. Can't wait for the next one!!

Ok - so I know some things are popular in this world - I just don't get the Harry Potter Craze. I know there is a new book coming out?? I've never read the first book. Today I get an email from Borders wanting to know if I need to reserve my copy of the new book. I bring the paper in and it's Harry this and Harry that. I hear that people dress up like Harry Potter and wait in line for the book to arrive at midnight. Someone is making a TON of money off this (J.K. whatever). Maybe I should just give in and read the first one? xoxo A.Joy

Here is a picture of the beach I was just at for a week (taken from the cottage I was at) near Silver Lake. This is the Great Lake Michigan! We had a great time playing in the dunes, the lake and the channel (Silver Lake streams out into Lake Michigan). I was even recognized on the beach - some guy came up to me and said "aren't you in the Candy Band???" I was very surprised!! Anyways, wrote some new material - maybe it will end up on our next record???

Okay - I am a little late on this one. Last year I played in the Clawson 4th of July Parade. I performed "Star Spangled Banner" (kind of a Jimmy Hendrix version) about 40 times (toggling with "You're a Grand Old Flag") as the parade wound through it's 1-1/2 mile plus route. The highlight? When the Blue Angels flew overhead in formation as I was holding a note (and getting some feedback to boot)!! xoxo A.Joy
