Man, is it steamy in Michigan! It feels like the middle of August. I hate to complain, but I could do for some seasonable 70's temps.

I have been going to alot of cookouts this Memorial day weekend and thought I would share my taco salad recipe with you:

A big bowl of your favorite lettuce cut up
Shredded carrots (a handful or so)
1/2 cup chopped purple cabbage - optional (good color)
20 cut in half grape tomatoes (or whatever you have is okay too)
1 can black beans drained (kidney would work fine too)
small bag of shredded cheddar or mexican blend cheese (8 oz)
1/3 bag of crushed taco flavored chips (cheese flavor ok - but taco is better)
1/2 bottle of Catalina dressing
you can also add black olives and green onions too if you want

This salad rocks!!!

Wow, after a barrage of 3 gigs last week (Oakridge Elementary, Dexter Center for the Performing Arts, and Harwood Elementary), Candy Band is on a much needed break before the next flood of gigs. Doesn't Kathy Valentine have the greenest eyes you have ever seen? She rocks - I was even able to get on stage and sing "Vacation" with the Mydols as backup vocalists. More pix to come!!!

Wow! What a blast at Mamapalooza last night. I will post pics soon. There were tons of people. Everyone rocked - especially Kathy Valentine. She has an amazing band. Her guitarist Jason has jammed with many heavyweights and I just can't say enough about Clem Burke on drums. He is a regular drumming acrobat. Super fun night with super fun people. Way to go Judy (Mydols) for organizing a wonderful evening!!
