During the Candy Band break before the summer season hits - I was invloved in the school talent show with a bunch of kids - either performing guitar duets with them, accompanying them or writing songs. One in particular was called "Ode to the Mullet" written by my good friend Matthew (4th grade). I found this picture on the most awesome website - please check it out:

We played at an Elementary School in Troy on Friday. The kids were actually crowd surfing. How dangerous is that for little kids? The parents didn't seem to care and we were were kind of helpless on stage. Finally, a cub scout den mother came over and broke it up!! They were a fun and wild crowd - just the way we like 'em, but we dont' want to see any little kids get hurt!!! xoxo A.Joy

Last night I was a judge in the talent show tryouts at Addams Elementary School. I saw everything from hula dancing, hula hooping, violin playing, guitar playing, singing, dancing, joke telling, magicians, jump ropers, 2 bands, karate, pogo stick jumping, gymnastics, and what else? I don't know, I can't remember, but I am sure there was more. There were about 57 acts and this show promises to be 3 hours +!!! Ouch!! More on this later! xoxo A.Joy

We're playing the "Home of the Eagles" this Friday night, and I'm not talking the Detroit Zoo! Once again, we are at Troy Union Elementary School. We played there last year and it was a packed house. Actually, I think it was open house night or something. Wow - crazy!!

Hey kids - ready for another Candy Band gig this weekend?? Last Friday night was an awesome gig at Farmington Community School. Crazy dancing - tons of kids - loud rock-n-roll - what more could you ask for?? This weekend (Sunday at 2pm to be exact) we will be performing at the Baldwin Libary in Birmingham in the Rotary Room!! Sounds spinny!!!

Big Friday night for Candy Band - we are gigging at the Farmington Community School on Shiawasee in Farmington!! Nothing rocks like playing at an early childhood eduction center!!! I am serious - these are the kind of gigs the kids go totally wild at!! Can't wait!! xoxo A.Joy
