My friend Karen K sent me this poem that she made up

At CPR class, what did I see…
A Candyband T-shirt looking at me!
Over to the girl I did go,
To see in any of you did she know.
“No” she replied, they came to the school
Everyone there thought they were cool.
So back to my seat I did trot
Another loyal fan the Candyband got.

WOW - ANOTHER RARE 2 WEEKS OFF!! Candy band is in an odd lull right now. With the exception of the DSO, March just wasn't a huge month for gigs. So, we have been busy working on new songs, taking new promo photos and basically getting ready to entertain you!!! Even though we have some private gigs (school assemblies and stuff), we do have some super cool public gigs on the horizon. Hope to see you there!!!

DSO Civic Orchestra members and Candy Band. We made some great music together!!!

Here is a picture of Candy Band at the sold out Tiny Tots at the Max concert on March 18th performing with members of the DSO Civic Orchestra. It was a great show - I was basically moved to tears by how beautiful the strings sounded with us. I have never heard our songs sound so full!!!!
LET'S DO IT AGAIN!!!

ALMOND JOYS REVIEW OF VERDI'S REQUIEM at Orchestra Hall. I went with 4 friends to the DSO this afternoon. We sat in the 2nd row. This was my first time at a symphony performance. WOW! It was so electric for not being electric. I think what freaked me out the most was the 4 solo vocal performers that sat along either side of the conductor (Charles Burke, you rock!!!). Their voices were so pure - I bet they don't smoke, eat pizza, breathe bad air, have colds, or drink tap water. I have never heard a sound like that come out of a person. I swear I could not breathe for the first 30 minutes of the show. There was a choir with about 150 voices. And I especially loved when the string instruments were "hacking" with their bows quite fast. The music was moving me for sure!! Thank you DSO for being there!!! I love music!!!

WOW! Yesterday, Candy Band rehearsed 5 songs with members from the DSO Civic Orchestra - it was way cool and way fun - looking very much forward to our show (sorry - sold out) next Saturday. But do not fear - we will record this and make it available to you!!!!

DID YOU KNOW that March is Reading month? Even though my kids and I like to read year round, I would like to promote some of YOUR favorite books! Please email almondjoy@candyband.com your favorite book from when you were a kid (or if you still are a kid) or even a book that you are reading right now and totally love. We will start spreading the word and hopefully turn our readers on to some new books!!! So hey, get going to the library already!!!

HOW EXCITING!! The other day, Starburst and I went to pick up the string arrangements for our songs with members of the DSO Civic Orchestra. I never realized that "Rock, Paper, Scissors" has five sharps in it! And I thought it was an easy song!! Actually, it probably is for the musicians that will be performing with us on March 18th at the Music Box. Since we have these arrangements now, we will probably do this again (maybe at our RO Library show in August???). This is a step into some new musical waters for Candy Band. We will have 4 violins, 2 cellos and 2 violas. Rock on!!
